The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Captain (Infantry) David B. Moseley (ASN: 0-1296405), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Headquarters Company, 3d Battalion, 411th Infantry Regiment, 103d Infantry Division. On 24 April 1945, near Reidsheim, Germany, Captain Moseley drove forward through hostile territory to contact an adjacent unit. Approaching the rea of an escaping enemy wagon train, he opened fire and killed two of the enemy. Returning to his unit he organized a small force and led them in an attack on the supply train, killing fifteen of the enemy, capturing forty, and leaving the remainder of the wagon train in complete disorder. After making proper disposition of the prisoners he completed his mission. Captain Moseley’s actions, which led to the capture of the town, were in accordance with the highest traditions of the military service.
