The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Staff Sergeant Robert V. Morrison (ASN: 32014511), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 120th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 8 October 1944, in Germany. Staff Sergeant Morrison was a Squad Leader with a platoon of his company which was engaged in action against the enemy. When the squad received heavy hostile fire, Staff Sergeant Morrison, without regard for himself, administered first aid to one of his men, then immediately reorganized the rest of the squad into continuing a vigorous attack against the enemy positions. Despite the increased intensity of the enemy resistance, Staff Sergeant Morrison pressed onward until mortally wounded by machine gun fire. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Staff Sergeant Morrison, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
