The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Private First Class Hardin C. Moore (ASN: 35713825), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Medical Detachment, 119th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 19 July 1944, in France. Private First Class Moore was assigned to duty with an infantry unit engaged in an assault against enemy positions. The advancing group met fierce hostile fire, and a scout was wounded. With complete disregard for his personal safety, Private First Class Moore voluntarily moved forward to rescue his stricken comrade, in which position he was killed by enemy fire. The personal bravery and supreme unselfishness resulting the loss of his life, reflect great credit upon Private First Class Moor and are in keeping with the highest traditions of the Armed Forces.
