The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross (Posthumously) to Corporal Earl Lamb (ASN: 1391257), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company F, 132d Infantry Regiment, 33d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Consenvoye, France, 9 October 1918. When the advance of his platoon was stopped by an enemy machine-gun, Corporal Lamb charged the gun from the flank, wounded one of the gunners, and captured the other two members of the gun crew, together with the gun. Remaining in an advanced position under fire throughout the day, he used the captured machine-gun in breaking up an enemy counterattack.
