The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Technician Fourth Grade Thomas A. Meehan (ASN: 31062271), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the Medical Detachment, 119th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 23 July 1944, in France. Technician Fourth Grade Meehan was serving as an aid man with an infantry company in direct contact with enemy troops. During a firefight, several of his comrades were wounded.
