The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Corporal Henry E. Plant, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism on 19 March 1865, while serving with Company F, 14th Michigan Infantry, in action at Bentonville, North Carolina. Corporal Plant rushed into the midst of the enemy and rescued the colors, the Color Bearer having fallen mortally wounded.
