During an enemy counterattack, First Lieutenant Malcomson assumed command of the one of the guns of his section, While exposed to intense fire from enemy tanks, he courageously continued his attack and knocked out a German assault gun. The bravery and leadership exhibited by First Lieutenant Malcomson on this occasion wee responsible for the disorganization of the counterattacking fore, after four of the enemy tanks were destroyed. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by First Lieutenant Malcomson, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
