Headquarters, 83d Infantry Division, General Orders No. 32 (1945)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to First Lieutenant (Infantry) Arthur D. Littlepage (ASN: 0-1295237), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 329th Infantry Regiment, 83d Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 15 December 1944, in Germany. During a strong German counter-attack with tanks and supporting infantry, Lieutenant Littlepage led friendly tanks to positions from which they could return the fire of the enemy armor and then fought his way from house to house to secure a position from which he could fire on a hidden enemy tank. Disregarding the intense fire from this tank, Lieutenant Littlepage forced it to withdraw after damaging it by a direct hit with his rocket launcher. The outstanding initiative and fighting spirit of this officer were important factors in repelling the attack and exemplify the finest traditions of the Armed Forces of the United States.
