The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Captain (Infantry) Arthur E. Khoury, Jr., United States Army, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy while serving as Commanding Officer, Service Company, 379th Infantry Regiment, 95th Infantry Division, during the drive on Metz, during World War II. To supply troops isolated for three days in a bunker cut off by strong German emplacements, Captain Khoury led a convoy of 30 jeeps leaded with badly needed ammunition and food across enemy territory under enemy shelling to the beleaguered force. As a result of Captain Khoury’s action the supplies were delivered in time for the embattled garrison to continue its resistance and then assumed the offensive, throwing the Germans out of 10 bunkers immediately before Metz.
