Headquarters, 30th Infantry Division, General Orders No. 152 (June 12, 1945)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Private First Class Calvin T. Jones (ASN: 34392281), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 119th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 28 February 1945, in Germany. Private First Class Jones voluntarily exposed himself to murderous enemy fire to cross open terrain to repair breaks in communications caused by the enemy shelling. Stopping only when the shells were landing close, he repaired breaks until he was instantly killed by artillery fire. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Private First Class Jones, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
