The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Technician Fifth Grade Albert H. Jodoin (ASN: 31213132), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 119th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 11 July 1944, in France. Technician Fifth Grade Jodoin was serving as a vehicle driver with an Infantry Battalion actively engaged with the enemy. Two enemy tanks broke through the forward lines and penetrated the area in which the battalion’s vehicles were parked. Although Technician Fifth Grade Jodoin was some distance away from his truck, he unhesitatingly left his cover, ran through a hail of machine gun fire to the vehicle, and drove it out of range. The tanks, in a desperate attempt to stop him, poured machine gun fire on the truck scoring several hits, but Technician Fifth Grade Jodoin successfully completed his mission. His personal bravery and devotion to duty were clearly demonstrated by this daring act. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Technician Fifth Grade Jodoin, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
