The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Sergeant Parker Jesse (ASN: 33310551), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 120th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 28 November 1944, in Germany. Sergeant Jesse, although he was dazed by an exploding artillery shell, rapidly cared for a severely wounded comrade, thereby saving his life. When he was painfully injured and suffered a sprained ankle in falling to the ground to avoid an artillery concentration, Sergeant Jesse, rather than be evacuated, moved through intense enemy fire which other men would not brave to establish and repair communication wires. His gallant actions in saving the life of his comrade and in installing the vitally needed wire line wee a source of inspiration to all who observed him, and were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service, reflecting great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
