The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to First Lieutenant (Infantry) Henry Romeyn, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism on 30 September 1877, while serving with 5th U.S. Infantry, in action at Bear Paw Mountain, Montana. First Lieutenant Romeyn led his command into close range of the enemy, there maintained his position, and vigorously prosecuted the fight until he was severely wounded.
