(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Staff Sergeant Freddie G. Humpick (ASN: 6662264), United States Army, was awarded the Silver Star (Posthumously) for gallantry in action while serving with the 4th Armored Division, in action against the enemy on 27 March 1945, in Germany. Staff Sergeant Humpick led his men in cleaning out a nest of snipers and bazookas so that they could capture a bridge near a German town. He was mortally wounded when the mined bridge blew up. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
