Headquarters, 30th Infantry Division, General Orders No. 93 (November 1, 1944)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Kenneth W. Hull (ASN: 37226393), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 197th Field Artillery Battalion, 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 19 September 1944, in Holland. Private First Class Hull was serving as a field lineman with a communications section of a field artillery battalion. During an engagement with the enemy, heavy hostile fire disrupted communications and subjected the area through which new lines had to be laid to continue fire. At the risk of his life, Private First Class Hull voluntarily performed maintenance work until communications so vitally needed in the crucial period of the battle, were reestablished. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Private First Class Hull, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
