The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to First Lieutenant (Infantry) Guy O. Hogle (ASN: 0-1315016), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 120th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 27 March 1945, in Germany. Realizing that an enemy tank would inflict heavy casualties on his Company, First Lieutenant Hogle took a smoke grenade and rifle and gallantly advanced on the tank. After blinding the crew with the grenade, he took a bazooka man and knocked out the tank with one round. First Lieutenant Hogle then led his men through intense enemy fire to take the primary and secondary objectives, killing twelve of the enemy and capturing seventy-three. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by First Lieutenant Hogle, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
