The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Colonel (Cavalry) Albert Everett Harris, United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving as Commanding Officer of Combat Command “A”, 6th Armored Division, in action against the enemy in France and Germany, during the period from 13 August 1944 through 7 February 1945. Colonel Harris, by his display of personal courage and leadership of the highest degree, constantly inspired his troops to greater effort resulting in prompt reduction of enemy resistance in the localities mentioned. His tactful skill, prompt and accurate decisions, and expert employment of the troops at his disposal contributed inestimably to the success of the division in combat. His superior professional knowledge, devotion to duty, and gallantry in action were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
