The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Sergeant Jeremiah Healey (ASN: 1709040), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company G, 308th Infantry Regiment, 77th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Charlevaux, France, October 3 – 7, 1918. Although wounded on the third day of the battle in the Argonne Forest, Sergeant Healey continually exposed himself to machine-gun and artillery fire while aiding and cheering his men. He also volunteered his services in an attempt to break through the enemy lines and bring aid to his organization.
