(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Private First Class Earl A. Groh, United States Army, was awarded the Silver Star for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy while serving with the 34th Infantry Division in Italy during World War II. Private Groh was wounded while taking 13 prisoners to a rear command post, but he carried through on his mission before permitting his own wounds to be treated. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
