(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Captain (Armor) Lawrence Vivans Greene (ASN: 0-23872), United States Army, for in action while serving as Commanding Officer of a Tank Battalion of the 1st Armored Division, in action against the enemy in North Africa, in 1943. Without regard to his personal safety, Captain Greene exposed himself to heavy enemy artillery fire to go to and administer first aid to a wounded comrade. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Captain Greene, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
