(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Private First Class Joseph A. Green, United States Army, was awarded the Silver Star for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy while serving with the 2d Infantry Division in France in August 1944. When the advance of the platoon was stopped by machine gun fire from a house, Private First Class Green and a comrade, armed with a bazooka, crawled to a forward position and fired a projectile, scoring a direct hit.
