(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Corporal [then Private First Class] Wallace A. Getz, United States Army, was awarded the Silver Star for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy while serving with the 6th Armored Division during World War II. Corporal Getz was with a unit of troops that had been ordered to retreat. Some wounded men were left behind, but Private First Class Getz, without orders, went with several comrades and brought them all along, under intense enemy fire. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
