The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Sergeant [then Private First Class] Prank P. George (ASN: 32984159), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 119th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 23 February 1945, in Germany. Although enemy fire pinned down their platoon, Sergeant George and his comrades refused to be deterred but advanced in the face of the direct enemy fire and overran one position capturing four snipers. They searched the building of a town for another sniper under incessant fire until they had killed him. Sergeant George then moved his platoon and led his company into the town. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Sergeant George, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
