The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Eugene B. Gablehouse (ASN: 39596606), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 119th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 15 April 1945, in Germany. Private First Class Gablehouse took a position at a window during a savage counterattack and killed three and wounded three of the enemy. He then gallantly braved murderous fire to assist a comrade in knocking out a self-propelled gun. Private First Class Gablehouse again displayed great heroism by moving through a shower of enemy fire on four different occasions to supply vitally needed ammunition, thereby aiding greatly ins topping the enemy force. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Private First Class Gablehouse, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
