The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Technician Fifth Grade Clyde Flood (ASN: 36195984), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the Medical Department, Company A, 76th Armored Medical Battalion, 6th Armored Division, in action in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Germany, during the period 1 August 1944 to 30 April 1945. As an ambulance driver, Technician Fifth Grade Flood has consistently displayed exceptional skill and courage in the performance of his duties. He has often volunteered to go forward, despite intense artillery barrages, to deliver casualties to rear and safety. His quick thinking, skill and aptitude as a driver have been responsible for saving the lives of many wounded men and reflect great credit upon himself and uphold the highest traditions of the Military Service of the United States.
