Headquarters, 30th Infantry Division, General Orders No. 37 (August 15, 1944)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Corporal Thomas R. Felion (ASN: 17049696), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the Division Artillery, 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 12 July 1944, in France. Corporal Felion was assigned to duty as a forward artillery observer attached to an infantry unit engaged in the assault of a hostile fortified position. To obtain maximum results, Corporal Felion voluntarily moved forward to an area well in advance of the infantry and within less than three hundred yards of an enemy strong point. At the risk of his life, he remained in this vulnerable position until he had completed the necessary registration. The heroic devotion to duty exhibited by Corporal Felion reflect great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Armed Forces.
