The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Captain (Infantry) David K. Easlick (ASN: 0-468306), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 117th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 7 August 1944, in France. Captain Easlick was assigned to duty with the staff of an infantry organization which was attacked by a numerically superior enemy thrust making a desperate attempt to divide American forces in France. The attack was supported by hostile armor and it was necessary to reorganize our forces into new defensive positions. The professional skill with which Captain Easlick assisted in the reorganization and the soldier attributes displayed by him in constantly exposing himself to the enemy fire in order to complete the undertaking served as an example of great inspiration to the troops. The personal courage and outstanding leadership exhibited by Captain Easlick during the severe enemy threat reflect great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Armed Forces.
