(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: First Lieutenant (Air Corps) Robert R. Santini (ASN: 0-421416), United States Army Air Forces, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight with the *** Fighter Group, TENTH Air Force. Lieutenant Santini, as pilot, has participated in more than fifty operational missions, during which exposure to enemy fire was probable and expected, over Burma and China between 1942 and 1943. These flights, consisting of bombing, offensive reconnaissance, ground strafing and escort far over enemy territory, have resulted in the destruction of much enemy material and installations. The operations in which he has flown constitute acts of extraordinary achievement in aerial flight and reflect the highest credit on the military forces of the United States.
