(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Private First Class John B. Dula, United States Army, was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action against the enemy while serving with the 79th Infantry Division in France during World War II. Private First Class Dula was alone when the enemy launched a heavy counterattack, preceded by artillery and mortar barrage. Private First Class Dula stuck to his gun under the fierce bombardment, inflicting so many casualties that the enemy was forced to withdraw. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
