Drury, United States Army, was awarded the Silver Star for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy while serving with the 6th Armored Division, in action in France on 28 November 1944. Sergeant Drury, with complete disregard for his own safety and under heavy fire, led his men forward to keep the attack progressing and materially aided the task force in the accomplishment of its mission. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
