The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Private Earl W. Draime (ASN: 06668946), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the Medical Detachment, Special Troops, 79th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 12 July 1944 in France. Without regard for his own safety Private Draime advanced alone in the face of intense enemy small arms fire and administered medical aid to two wounded soldiers who were lying in an exposed area. He succeeded in evacuating one of the men and upon returning for the other discovered that he was beyond further aid. The exemplary courage and devotion to duty displayed by Private Draime reflect highest credit on himself and the Armed Forces of the United States.
