Headquarters, 30th Infantry Division, General Orders No. 147 (June 11, 1945)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Hildrie Corbin (ASN: 34822344), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 743d Tank Battalion (Separate), attached to the 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 27 February 1945, in Germany. Private First Class Corbin, noticing his commander unable to move from his knocked out tank, ran through constant and intense fire to call medical aidmen to care for his badly wounded commander. His gallant action enabled the medical aidmen to arrive in time to save his comrade’s life. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Private First Class Corbin, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
