The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Clarence Corbello (ASN: 14031670), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 70th Field Artillery Battalion (Separate), in support of the 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 20 November 1944, in Germany. Private First Class Corbello left a position of comparative safety in a stone building and went out into a street that was under heavy mortar fire and under close observation by the enemy to rescue a wounded comrade and carry him to a nearby shelter. The courage and complete unselfishness displayed by Private First Class Corbello in this act reflect great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Armed Forces.
