    (Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: First Lieutenant Roy D. Clark, United States Army, was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action while serving as Executive Officer with the 25th Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron (Mechanized), 4th Armored Division, in action against the enemy during World War II. Lieutenant Clark led his platoon on a mission contact the enemy and learn their position and strength, under heavy artillery and small arms fire from the enemy position, to observe them advantageously. Though the heavy fire continued the post was maintain for two days and the enemy disposition was learned in detail. Twice during the two days Lieutenant Clark let patrols behind the enemy lines and on each instance he and his men were engaged by the enemy. They returned with the necessary information. Lieutenant Clark has established an enviable record in combat. His leadership under extremely difficult combat conditions has been marked by courage and calmness.
