The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Harold T. Clark (ASN: 36895181), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 119th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 6 October 1944, in Germany. Although they drew heavy fire from a pillbox holding up the advance of their battalion, Private First Class Clark and a comrade moved forward through added hazards from hand grenades to a position where they completely confused the enemy that they were able to enter the pillbox and capture all the occupants. By their gallant actions, they captured eighteen of the enemy, killed two, and allowed their battalion to move forward. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Private First Class Clark, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
