The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Sergeant Georgia H. Clark (ASN: 30402243), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 120th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 15 January 1945, in Belgium. Although he was painfully wounded and suffering from loss of blood, Sergeant Clark advanced in an enemy house which the enemy was defending tenaciously by an intense hail of fire. He remained in the face of the enemy fire to release twelve rifle grenades against the enemy strongpoint. Sergeant Clark was mortally wounded by machine gun fire as he rose to fire another grenade. His great heroism and gallantry kept the enemy from using the windows and doorways of the house, thereby allowing his company to move pas the house and to its objective with less difficulty. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Sergeant Clark, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
