The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private George C. Ciarrocchi (ASN: 33340757), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the Medical Detachment, 118th Field Artillery Battalion, 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 13 October 1944, in Germany. During a heavy concentration of enemy artillery, Private Ciarrocchi completely ignored the danger to himself and continued his work. This unselfish disregard of his own safety and willingness to risk his life for others were a profound exemplification to the officers and men with whom he serves. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Private Ciarrocchi, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
