The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Sergeant Lloyd L. Ferguson (ASN: 736952), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company L, 11th Infantry Regiment, 5th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Brandeville, France, November 8 – 9, 1918. After leading his platoon against a superior number of the enemy, Sergeant Ferguson was wounded and taken to an aid station, where he was ordered evacuated. He refused, and rejoined his company the following day, and was again wounded while advancing at the head of his platoon.
