The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Staff Sergeant [then Sergeant] Arthur C. Bryson (ASN: 34604414), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 119th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 19 July 1944, in France. Staff Sergeant Bryson was a member of an infantry unit engaged in an assault against the enemy. The advancing group met fierce hostile fire, and a scout was wounded. With complete disregard for his personal safety, Staff Sergeant Bryson voluntarily moved forward to assist an aid man evacuate his stricken comrade. The outstanding courage and leadership displayed by Staff Sergeant Bryson reflect great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Armed Forces.
