(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Technical Sergeant Richard Brodacki (ASN: 31249837), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the Medical Detachment, 314th Infantry Regiment, 79th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in France in 1944. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Silver Star to Technical Sergeant Richard Brodacki (ASN: 31249837), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the Medical Detachment, 314th Infantry Regiment, 79th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 30 November 1944 in France. During heavy fighting, Sergeant Brodacki and another man took a litter and set out to recover a wounded man who lay helplessly in an exposed position. Disregarding the intense machine gun fire, the two men crawled to the position of the man, placed him on the litter and still crawling, dragged him to safety. Later on the same day, Sergeant Brodacki made two trips through an area heavily mined to evacuate two wounded men, each time carrying the man on his back. The courage and fidelity to duty exhibited by Sergeant Brodacki reflect great credit on himself and the Armed Forces of the United States.
