The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Captain (Field Artillery) Ralph H. Bradley (ASN: 0-1174512), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 230th Field Artillery Battalion, 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 9 October 1944, in Germany. Captain Bradley moved with the most advanced infantry elements through murderous enemy fire in order that more effective artillery fire might be furnished. He continually moved across open terrain while small arms fire fell all around him, allowing artillery fire to be placed on the enemy position. By his courageous and gallant action, Captain Bradly contributed immeasurably to the success of this operation. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Captain Bradley, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
