Headquarters, 30th Infantry Division, General Orders No. 128 (May 23, 1945)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Private Orman Jacob Bofamy (ASN: 33909567), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 117th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 25 March 1945, in Germany. The enemy subjected Private Bofamy’s company to withering fire while it was attacking, which inflicted numerous casualties. Private Bofamy voluntarily left his place of safety to give comfort and all possible aid to the wounded. He continued his hazardous tasks in the fire-swept area until he was killed by a burst of enemy fire. Private Bofamy’s heroic self-sacrifice will be a lasting inspiration to his comrades and was in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
