The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Corporal Candide Joseph Dumais (ASN: 68683), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company H, 103d Infantry Regiment, 26th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Bois-de-St. Remy, France, 12 September 1918. When under heavy machine-gun fire, Corporal Dumais charged the machine gun from, the flank, killed the gunner, made five prisoners and put the gun out of action.
