    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Charles N. Bell (ASN: 33766552), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the Medical Detachment, 120th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 10 November 1944, in Germany. Private First Class Bell displayed great heroism by moving about under murderous artillery and mortar fire to administer aid to nine wounded comrades. He then set for litter squads which brought the men to the rear thus resulting in their quick evacuation and treatment. Private First Class Bells’ gallant actions aided in saving the lives of his comrades and was in keeping with the highest traditions of military service, reflecting great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
