The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Robert Van Behe (ASN: 32836171), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company G, *** Infantry Regiment, 95th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 1 April 1945, in the vicinity of Lamershagen, Germany. When a task force of tanks and Company G was halted by devastating Panzerfaust fire, Private First Class Behe and five comrades went to reconnoiter and, if possible eliminate the panzerfausts. Coming upon the enemy on high ground, Private First Class Behe participated in a bold assault which destroyed the position and enabled the tanks to resume their advance. Seven Germans were killed by Private First Class Behe and his comrades, and fourteen bazookas were captured. The gallant combat skill displayed by Private First Class Behe is in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service.
