The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Technical Sergeant Burnice T. Bahr (ASN: 37702860), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 120th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 26 March 1945, in Germany. When it became evident that trees and intense shelling prevented communications between the various platoons of his company, Technical Sergeant Bahr voluntarily kept contact by moving under the deadly fire on foot. As a result of his great heroism, the platoons were able to start according to plan when the signal for the attack came. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Technical Sergeant Bahr, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
