The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private Christian Dogress (ASN: 2106526), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company A, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Medeah Ferme, France, 4 October 1918. Though he had been wounded three times by machine-gun fire, Private Dogress refused to go to the rear and remained in the advance of his company until the final position was reached and consolidated.
