The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class John Adoro (ASN: 32818980), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 119th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 23 February 1945, in Germany. Although enemy fire pinned down their platoon, Private First Class Adoro and his comrades refused to be deterred but advanced din the face of the direct enemy fire and overran one position capturing four snipers. They searched the buildings of a town for another sniper under incessant fire until they had killed him. Private First Class Adoro then moved to his platoon and led his company into the town. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Private First Class Adoro, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
