The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private Donald A. Radloff (ASN: 36838614), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company F, 2d Battalion, 254th Infantry Regiment, 63d Infantry Division, in action on 27 January 1945, in the vicinity of Jebsheim, France. When his company was pinned down by intense enemy machine gun and rifle fire from a concrete pillbox, Private Radloff volunteered to knock out the obstacle. He furiously charged the pillbox, firing his sub-machine gun, causing several of the enemy to break and run; three surrendered and six were killed. The pillbox was reduced, allowing his company to continue the attack. His outstanding courage in the self-assigned mission reflects great credit upon himself and the Armed Forces of the United States.
