Headquarters, 42d Infantry Division, General Orders No. 139 (August 10, 1945)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Master Sergeant Wolfgang F. Robinow (ASN: 33004252), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the Military Intelligence Service, 42d Infantry Division, in action on 16 April 1945, near Perbach, Germany. When the patrol he accompanied as interpreter was ambushed by strong enemy forces on three sides, Sergeant Robinow noticed that one of his men was wounded. Disregarding his own safety he advanced through intense fire to his vehicle, turned it around and carried the wounded man back to the aid station, though himself wounded in the left arm. Sergeant Robinow then returned with three tanks, directing their fire from his position on top of one, until his unit succeeded in withdrawing. His outstanding courage and determination saved a fellow soldier from possible death or capture and enabled the patrol to withdraw.
